FIELD Melletios Kyriakidis / 351 Inc. / 2026

Field is a generative sound installation. It listens to the room through a microphone and responds. Pitch, volume, silence, speech. The system picks up what is present and mutates it into FM synthesis, sub frequencies, filtered noise, ambient drones. Nothing is pre-composed. Nothing repeats.

The room shapes the output. The output fills the room. There is no stable state. Silence produces slow drift. Noise produces reaction. Sustained pitch produces harmony that was never written. The feedback between space and system is the work.

Speak into it. Clap. Whistle. Be quiet. It responds to all of these differently. The longer you stay, the more the system learns from the acoustic signature of the moment.

Adjacent to Alvin Lucier's I Am Sitting in a Room (1969), where the physical properties of a space gradually replace speech with resonance. Field operates in a similar territory but in real time.

The work exists as a browser-based installation. Open your microphone. The room does the rest.
